Joseph Campana — The Academy’s New Director

September 01, 2026

As the Guivy Zaldastanishvili American Academy begins a new school year, we are delighted to welcome Mr. Joseph Campana as our new Director.

Mr. Campana joins the American Academy with 35 years of experience in education, including ten years in school leadership and administration. For the past nine years, he has worked at the American Community School Beirut, where his roles have included English teacher, Associate Principal, and High School Principal. His international career has also taken him to schools in Egypt, India, Brazil, and the United States.

Mr. Campana holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Business School. He has also completed Harkness training at the Phillips Exeter Humanities Institute. His strong belief in discussion-based, student-centered learning is closely aligned with our Academy’s educational philosophy and Harkness tradition.

Mr. Campana believes that a great school is not defined by academic achievement alone. It is a place where students feel known and supported, where teachers are valued, and where families feel connected to the life of the school.

We are very happy to have Mr. Campana with us and look forward to our students, parents, alumni, and friends getting to know him in the months ahead.

We wish Mr. Campana a wonderful and successful start at the American Academy!
