Charity Event at Khurvaleti Village
April 26, 2024
The American Academy students Ana Chkhaidze, Anastasia Lursmanashvili, and Nikoloz Dzmanashvili, together with the students of Gori School AC, held a charity event and donated humanitarian aid to the shelter of the elderly, House Without Borders, in the conflict-adjacent village of Khurvaleti. The shelter's director, Ms. Luda Salia, expressed her deep gratitude, noting that the students’ visit is a special occasion for the elderly residents of the conflict village. This is the second time the Guivy Zaldastanishvili American Academy has supported the shelter; a few years ago, the American Academy students and parents initiated the installation of an elevator.
The recent visit to Khurvaleti was also an initiative of the charity network Generations, established in January 2024 by a group of The American Academy students: Ana Chkhaidze, Ninia Kadagidze, Tatuli Magradze, Anastasia Jibladze, Anastasia Lursmanashvili, Nikoloz Dzmanashvili, Aleksandre Lavrov, and Nini Kikodze.
The network's purpose is to mobilize students across Georgia to support orphanages, nursing homes for the elderly, and organizations that support individuals with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. This network will allow registration of all vulnerable populations' needs across various regions of Georgia and facilitate their financial support management. Students from the American Academy also delivered humanitarian aid to three elderly shelters in Tbilisi: Katharsis, My Family, and Lamp of Kindness.
